Paleo Challenge

Welcome to the 2012 CF702 Winter Paleo Challenge.   The Challenge started on 14 Jan and will end on 18 Feb with a big Mardi Gras Pot Luck!  Like the last Paleo Challenge, this one will be performance based.

The measures of performance will be:

1 mile run

max kb swings in 2 mins

max strict pull-ups in 1 min,

max hand release push-ups in 1 min

Fight Gone Bad

Body Composition

The body composition portion will focus on lean muscle gained instead of fat lost.

The overall score will be 70% performance, 20% composition, and as an incentive to fill out a food log, 10% will be given just for filling out a log.  A log is not mandatory and how you eat will not be judged, but we would like to have honest data to correlate performance to eating Paleo.  If you count only 3 meals a day there are 105 meals that could be logged or 140 meals if you add one snack per day.  You will get all 10% if you log at least 100 meals.  I will take anyway that works for you, written on paper, using the food logs linked below or posting into Beyond the Whiteboard.

The KB swings, pull ups, and push ups will be converted to power so you must have filled out your measurements in Beyond the Whiteboard (BTW) If you do not have a BTW account, please let Vaughn or Jared know and we make sure you are set up with one.  The three areas in BTW that need to be filled in are:  Weigh in, {Settings, Measurements}, and post the workout itself.

12 Jan   -    Mile Run and KB Swings

13 Jan  -    Pullups and Pushups

14 Jan  – Fight Gone Bad

The cost of the seminar/Paleo Challenge is $20.  For that you will receive a 150 page booklet with information about how to eat Paleo, a shopping list, food log, and lots of tasty recipes.   The remainder of the money will go toward prizes for the top male and female performers in the following three categories based upon the Bod Pod Body Fat Ratings:

Category A:  Starting Body Fat under 12% for Males and under 22% for Females

Category B:  Starting Body Fat between 13 – 20% for Males and 23 – 30% for Females

Category C: Starting Body Fat over 20% for Males and 30% for Females

After everyone participating in the challenge has posted their weigh-in on BTW, we will randomly assign members to Yellow and Black teams.  Vaughn will email you, letting you know which team you are on.   Each team will pick a team Captain to help facilitate team meetings and status updates.
